This issue has been brewing for days. The puzzle to me is why this time those articulate media couldn’t find any really strong excuse to explain why this is happening other than accusing the Chinese government again of stirring up nationalism fever. Underlying pathetic reason is that returning these looted artifacts will set a bad example for their “splendid” exhibitions in Louvre and elsewhere because half of their possession all came the same way. So, I wonder where the moral authority is this time. Maybe it’s time again to tell China to shut up.
Speaking of which, I feel pity for the Iraqi National Museum. Weren’t the troops supposed to be sent over to restore order? Ooooh-no, then SOD said: “Stuff happens”.
