This afternoon’s “All Things Considered” program of the NPR radio broadcasted this news “EPA Unveils New Ports Emissions Plan“. It tells us that the US EPA will start requiring ocean vessels to use low sulfur fuel when they are within 230 miles from the US (and Canada) coasts, for environmental protection purposes. While I am all for clean fuel usage, the number 230 really struck me hard. So why 230 and why not 220 or 240 miles? And who puts this range of coastal waters under the US jurisdiction? Tonight I just googled it for an instant before the truth was revealed, here is the answer: 230 MILES equals 200 NAUTICAL MILES.

So basically the US is exercising its right within the 200 nautical miles of its own “Exclusive Ecnomic Zone”. Oh my goodness, I thought the definition of EEZ was not on the US government’s mind, because just days ago they sent some spy ship “surveying” topography only 75 NAUTICAL MILES off China’s coast. When the Chinese “harassed” them, they accused that the Chinese interfered with their normal operation in “international waters”. After that incident the navy even sent another escort destroyer. Before talking about anything else, perhaps a question should be asked first, were the US ships using clean fuel when it was doing business near China? How funny!

I guess the next step would be that the Chinese government demands all US spy ships (and warships) to use clean fuel when “operating” near China, this way at least the pollutants won’t cause any health problems to Chinese citizens, provided they have been polluted by themselves so much.

One last thought, the AP cleverly avoided “200 nautical miles” because EEZ can be connected to it instantly but most of the audience won’t give a damn about the conversion between 230 miles and 200 nautical miles.

Beyond imagination

Other than “spiritual leader”, “Nobel Prize Laureate”, another shining title – “Ghost Buster” may have to be awarded to his “Holiness”, because a “GhostNet” was busted following some “suspicions” that his office computer was hacked by someone somehow.

Gee, that’s jaw-dropping, really! Imagine that, computer systems that belong to the NATO and many other countries’ governments had been hacked but nobody gave a damn until this real tiger’s rear was petted by the hackers.  That has to make one wonder, isn’t the NATO a “Paper Tiger”? Perhaps the Russians shouldn’t have worried so much about NATO expansion after all.

The story line is pretty clear: just a few days ago China was blamed for “cyber warfare capabilities” by the Pentagon, then the followers of his “Holiness” couldn’t wait to broadcast their sensational “discovery”. Probably the best solution is to cut off the fiber optic cables that connect all the continents, so this problem is fixed once for all.

As anticipated, this bone chewer jumps out again. Except this time he’s running out of fresh meat from his ever tasteless bone so other than repeating himself, there is hardly anything new. I would really like to hear how he can refute what the articles say as he mentioned here.

It all looks coming in play following the script exactly. But the question is, some 800 pounds and smaller gorillas are surrounding a midget and getting ready to practice “self-defense” while what this midget wants may be to simply entertain himself by lighting up some firecrackers? Well it seems ridiculous to me at least. The underlying intention is pretty clear, the actual target is really the big man behind this midget, who doesn’t really want to put up any unnecessary fight while there are  so many family issues to deal with at home.

My wild guess would be whatever the firecracker is for, it is doomed to be douse off by the gorillas. The problem is, how come this midget picked up this time to entertain? Unless the elder son at home wants his old man die faster so he can grip the power and hand it over to the gorillas because the latter offer more “protection” than what the man behind his family can or is willing to provide. Whatever it is, it is interesting indeed and the chessboard will get murky so quickly before you know it.

So watch closely, the warmongers are in action.

A desperate try

Perhaps the martial law was completely unexpected, the plan of instigating another “uprising” went down to the drain, so I guess people behind all these were really mad so they released this video footage. Even the infamous media such as the NYTimes can’t say for sure whether this is authentic, otherwise I’d be really surprised that this brilliant reporter doesn’t jump onto this piece of “rotten meat”, literally. Remember then Gen. Collin Powell presented the “evidence” of WMD in Iraq before the U.N. Security Council? Compared to that, this is what, student’s project?

Speaking of the authenticity, if the segment in the hospital is true about the poor guy that was beaten so badly, is it hard for the authority to track  down the person who took the video? Obviously it’s not taken with a candid camera. What a lame trick! They must have hired a bunch of inferior Hollywood people to make this. But let’s see how this website tries to play innocent by saying “Details of sources are not given with the video, which is likely to be in order to protect confidentiality.” Come on, be a little more professional….

Nonetheless, some people will surely turn high on this, so let it be….

A good excuse

Bingo, another event is going to be boycotted! I am so dumb that I don’t see how his “Holiness” has anything to do with “showcase South Africa’s role as a human-rights champion ahead of its hosting of soccer’s World Cup next year” other than providing him a new platform to insult people’s intelligence again. My evil guess would be that the FIFA is lack of funding so his “Holiness” is borrowed here to beef up media attention. Who cares about some outdated politicians and actresses anyway if the conference only has these people? The next step would be some big sponsors threat to withdraw sponsorship from the World Cup so that the South African government could find a decent excuse to scrap the games due to the already cash-strapped economy, or more sponsors will jump in if his “Holiness” is granted a visa eventually. Either way, it’s a win-win situation, beneficial to both parties. How smart! Otherwise, how come people on this list that are still breathing the air are not invited? I would advise to get Al Gore over to continue spreading the word on reducing green house gas emission, this has to be a much better cause for a “Peace Conference”. Global warming leads to war, don’t you understand, dummies?

Speaking of which, the 2012 Olympic Games surely needs his “Holiness” too if he survives the time. Either the UK can excuse itself from the burden of the Games by denying a visa or it can gain extra $$ by granting one after some seesawing. So the strayed his “Holiness” indeed can turn out to be a living “economic stimulus” machine that brings fortune along with him wherever he goes.

UK and Northern Ireland

I have never really looked at the UK map very carefully before. Today when I inspected it for the first time (seriously) after hearing the tragic news about some unfortunate police officers getting killed, something strikes me really hard:  it appears strange that the Island of Ireland is spitted into two parts and the Northern Ireland is under Britain’s rule. How interesting! No wonder the IRA always wanted to free Northern Ireland from the UK. No matter what, I see this intention much better justified than “freeing” Tibet from China, at least the Tibet plateau doesn’t have a body of water that separates itself from the rest of the China’s territory.

Maybe some day someone from the Republican splinter groups or the IRA could get a Nobel Peace Prize and what not for instigating a freedom war. History will always mock people to whom the ultimate stupidity always belongs. So I am keeping my fingers crossed….

Is this karma?

If the navy ships and subs stayed clear of other countries’ coast, would this ever happen? Were they trying to catch the pirates near Iran? Where is the world’s most powerful navy when they are really needed? I don’t know about anything else, but the countries near the Strait of Hormuz should at least sue the US for polluting their beaches.

Wow! I am so scared to hear that the majestic US congress passed a resolution “urging China to ‘cease its repression of the Tibetan people’ and ‘to respond to the Dalai Lama’s initiatives to find a lasting solution to the Tibetan issue.’” China, as usual, lodged another weak protest that does nothing but gets mocked once again. Oh dear gracious God, what do they do?

But wait, does this “resolution” legally bound anything in China? Oh yeah? Isn’t this merely one of the many things that the US congress does to please itself? Haha… now I want to laugh…

What’s funny about this is, every time when the master throws out a bone, his “loyal companion” never hesitates to chase it…
